Through February 28 | Johnson County Goes to War: At Home and Abroad During World War I

The largest exhibit at the Layland in years marks the centennial year of America’s entry into World War I. Visitors can compare gas masks, weapons and other equipment that were used by American and German troops. Photographs and letters give a more personal view of the war as experienced by Cleburne residents. Follow the link below for details on a speaker series organized in collaboration with the Cleburne Public Library.


Upcoming Events

December 4 | 6:00 and 6:45 p.m. | Teddy Bear Tea

Children ages 3-6 are invited for tea and storytelling with Mrs. Claus, with lots of wonderful photo opportunities. There are two seatings for this popular event, and it does fill up. Free reservations are required. To sign up, please email the name and age of each child to museum@cleburne.net or call 817-645-0940.

Located at 201 N. Caddo St in downtown Cleburne, one block from the courthouse. The museum is near other points of interest in the downtown area, including restaurants, shopping and live entertainment.

Our Collection

The Layland Collection consists of three-dimensional objects, photographs and archival documents. The museum’s abundant photography collection covers over 100 years of Johnson county history. The cataloging and digitizing of the photo collection is currently ongoing.
